A sampling of New Year's 2009 and thank-you cards by the BRP children.

The last card is from Tankee. She writes, "I wish for us to look after one another like this forever. Don’t throw us away [don’t forget us] because we feel that we will have a better future because we have you. I beg to thank you for everything that you gave to us, and that you have allowed us to have today, and to study books and meet new very good friends. You truly opened a new world to me. I can’t stop myself from thinking that all of us, if we didn’t have your help, what sort of state we would be in. Without an education, there is little use for us. Our lives would be wasted."

Some essays and letters.

Some letters and essays on what the children want to be when they grow up, or how their village is changing. The first two pictures are "before" and "after" drawings of the village by Little Pai, age 10. She writes, "When I was 7 or 8 years old, my village had a big forest. The houses were small but beautiful, and everything was cheap. There were not many cars on the street. But 2 or 3 years ago, my village started to change in so many ways. The big forest had to be cut to build resorts. The small houses changed to big buildings, and now there are more cars on the street, and more accidents, also. So we get both good things and bad things from the change. The good thing is that we get more business and tourists. The bad thing is that there are fewer trees and more accidents."
